Sustainable Worthington is a "grassroots" organization where individual interest and work determines what ideas and projects will move forward. There are no dues for membership at this point and we are not a 501(c)3 charity.
We currently have approximately 300 people on our email list. Anyone on the list is welcome to email the group at email@example.com about sustainability in Worthington.
All are welcome so spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. Please contact us with any questions or ideas.
“Sustainability” means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Sustainable activities are simultaneously good for people, the planet and profits – the “triple bottom line”.
- Spending/investing locally - locally owned businesses vs. chains
- Walking, biking, mass transit vs. individual transport vehicle
- Supporting locally grown food
- Developing & sustaining integrated land-use patterns that strengthen bonds among and between residents, businesses and organizations.
Sustainable Worthington was inspired by the October 2006 Simply Living conference "Do It Here! Do It Now!" Our first meeting was held on November 29, 2006.
Sustainable Worthington gratefully acknowledges ongoing inspiration and help from Simply Living (www.simplyliving.org). Simply Living's vision is to create a compassionate and sustainable world through personal, community and cultural transformation.
You are welcome and encouraged to print and distribute the Sustainable Worthington newsletter. Please Contact Us with articles or ideas for future newsletters.
