Legal Assistance Programs for Low-Income Residents in Central Ohio

The Columbus Legal Aid Society (LASC) is a non-profit organization that provides free civil legal aid and guidance to low-income individuals and seniors in Columbus and Central Ohio. Our advocates are actively involved in community groups, boards, and workgroups at the state and local levels to ensure that justice is served fairly and equitably. The Ohio Domestic Violence Network offers legal self-help manuals to help survivors who are representing themselves in court. The Foundation funds legal aid organizations in Ohio and access to justice initiatives, such as Ohio Legal Help and Ohio Justice Bus, to improve the lives of those struggling financially.

Southeastern Ohio Legal Services (SEOLS) and the Columbus Legal Aid Society (LASC) provide free legal representation to low-income clients in a range of civil legal issues. It has two direct service components (the Legal Services of Southeastern Ohio and the Columbus Legal Aid Society) and an promotion and support component (the Ohio Poverty Law Center).LASC also helps partner organizations and low-income groups of people find solutions to community problems. In addition, they provide assistance to older and low-income individuals living in Columbus and central Ohio. Equal justice before the law is not an abstract concept or a meaningless phrase, it is a daily struggle for those trying to support themselves and their families.

Even if the organization does not have an attorney available to represent you in court, you may want to ask if there is an attorney you can consult with for advice. This list includes organizations that provide free or low-cost legal services to victims of abuse and others who qualify. At LASC, we understand that navigating the legal system can be overwhelming, especially for those with limited resources. That's why we strive to make our services as accessible as possible. We offer a variety of programs designed to help low-income individuals get the legal assistance they need.

Our programs include free legal advice clinics, pro bono representation, court advocacy, community education, and more. We also partner with other organizations in Central Ohio to provide additional resources for those in need.
